Blood Donation Camp (6th October, 2015)
At TIMSCDR students are encouraged to imbibe the principle of community service and be generous and large hearted – bound by beliefs beyond themselves. Organizing a Blood Donation Camp is just another step in this direction. Every day, hundreds/thousands of people in India require blood for a transfusion, a surgery or some medical procedure. In many cases, especially open heart surgery, there is need for fresh blood and therefore a need for donors.
Blood donation camp was organized on 6th October, 2015 in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Seva Mandir from 9:30 onwards in the Girls common room , ground floor. The program commenced by address of Dr. Mukesh Gupta (MBBS, MD, Hon. Secretary AMC) on “Relevance of Good Health and Blood Donation” to spread awareness among students in the seminar hall at 9:00 am. Dr. Mukesh Gupta is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist at Dr. Gupta’s Nursing Home, Malad (W) and Managing Director, Le Nest, Malad (W). He is awarded Best work award by FOGSI at National Conference on Adolescent Health, 1999. Winner of “Emerging Star of Medicines” by IMA, Mumbai, March, 2011. He has conducted more than 100 programs in schools & colleges since 11 years on subject like adolescent health, family life education etc. Lecture of Dr.Gupta inspired students and staff to donate blood. The lecture captured the attention of the audience and educated them for healthy practices to be followed to keep ourselves healthy and our environment disease free.
Students and staff turned out in large numbers to donate blood. The donors went through series of medical checkups before donating blood and were given refreshments and a certificate of appreciation for this service to humanity.
